On the Bandwagon: Web Producer

Alongside our Professor, Adam Peruta, myself and two others designed, developed, and launched a brand identity and website for a podcast on fandoms. From conception to completion, the creative team sought to illustrate the heart of the podcast through the digital product we developed. In the web producer role, I focused on website wireframe design, coding out web pages, and implementing the media that we produced.

The first half of the semester was devoted to creating a brand identity, wireframing, and making design choices for what our product would look like. I spent most of my time creating iterations of wireframes for each webpage. The second half of the semester was spent coding out the webpages, creating media and graphics to embed on the pages, and implementing it all into a live website.

In-N-Out Burger Blog Page

Have you ever been displeased with the fact that In-N-Out Burger doesn't have a blog page on their website? Well, look no further. I designed out both desktop and mobile versions of an In-N-Out Burger blog page as well as a post page using Figma.

One of the most iconic west coast chain restaurants deserves a blog page, yet there's is nothing to be found on their website. I wanted to create a page that would be appealing to their customers and encourage them to interact with it. I attempted to keep the integrity of the currently existing website for a hypothetically "seamless" integration of this page.

Westcott Street Cultural Fair Website Redesign

The Westcott Street Cultural Fair (WSCF) is an essential part of the Syracuse experience. Taking the current WSCF website as inspiration, I did a an interface redesign for a handful of the web pages. The final product was implemented into a custom WordPress theme and deployed on a local server.

The annual WSCF is a vibrant and integral part of Syracuse city life and the website deserves to reflect that. This project included low-fidelity wireframing, HTML and CSS coding, and WordPress custom theme development. The figma link below shows some clips of the high-fidelity wireframes.

Swiss Style Concert Poster

Inspired by Clairo's third studio album, Charm, I made a poster for "the best concert I've ever been to," as instructed by my professor. Clairo fans are sure to recognize the colors and design elements, even if they did not attend the concert themselves.

With heavy influence from Swissted's Swiss style concert posters, I created a poster that would appeal to both fans of the artist and fans of the art style.

Reality TV and BCI Technology

Do you like reality TV? What about you like wild ideas rooted in assumptions about the future? In this piece, I predict brain computer interfaces will make their way into mainstream media sooner rather than later. This "prediction" also comes with a terribly drawn sketch of the technology that I discuss.

Drawn from over 20 sources, my exploration into reality television and rapidly-evolving human technology proved to be a fascinating endeavor. If you are feeling up for some not-so-futuristic reading, I encourage you to check it out.

Therapy for the Healing Mind: Through Music

As a means of exploring the benefits of art therapy, I had the chance to get to know Hannah Pietra, a licensed creative arts therapist. Her passion lies in the therapeutic benefits of music.

To create this video I collected A-roll footage, B-roll footage, and music samples from Hannah. After getting my content, I used Adobe Premiere Pro to put it all together.

Therapy for the Healing Mind: Through Art

Another form of mental health therapy that I explored was art therapy, this time through an audio format. I spoke with two different local art therapists, Zah Peet and Tiffany Pollack Guenther, about their experience in the field. Zah and Tiffany are both enthusiastic about the benefits of art therapy and the impact it can have on people's lives.

While they both have a unique approach with their clients, they share the same sentiment that insurance needs to start covering art therapy, just as it covers other mental health services.

Air Dry Clay Magnets and Crafts

This was a low cost, DIY project that I really threw myself into. I began by sculpting the clay pieces and letting them dry for a day or two. Once dried, I painted them, let the paint dry, glossed with a nail polish top coat, and glued a small magnet on the back.

I spent hours perfecting the toppings for the toast and mixing colors to get the perfect look. In addition to magnets, I also enjoy making clay ashtrays and jewelry holders.

Matchbox Collection Art

I started collecting matchboxes a few years ago, plucking them from my favorite restaurants, bars, and stores each time I visited. One of them I found on the street in Paris and some of them my friends got for me. The collection was soon plentiful and I had a vision in mind.

I found a shadowbox on Facebook Marketplace and then grabbed some canvas material at a craft store. Soon I had my matchbox shadowbox ready for display. Since "finishing" the piece, I have accumulated several more matchboxes that I am excited to add.

About

My background in journalism has provided me with the tools to share stories in a creative and thoughtful way; while my passion for website design and strategic marketing motivates me to create visually appealing, thought-provoking, and intuitive digital products.

I went to undergrad at the University of Vermont and studied public communications with a concentration in community media and journalism. At the Newhouse School of Public Communications, I was enrolled in the magazine, news, and digital journalism program but ended up leaning heavily into electives that explored web development and design. I soon discovered just how much I enjoyed it.

Outside of class I enjoy thrifting, being outside, and doing various crafts. I also enjoy traveling and trying new foods.

My time in Burlington, VT and Syracuse, NY allowed me to experience two little cities with their own unique charm. I look forward to wherever I end up next!
